You might be aware of two very famous tea varieties namely Assam and Darjeeling tea. These teas are grown in India and they have earned popularity in the whole world due to their distinctive flavors and aroma. Assam Produces Highest Quantity of Tea in India

The climate of Assam is ideal for cultivating tea. The soil of Brahmaputra River valley is clayey in nature. Assam contributes to the highest production of tea in India. The valley is characterized by humid and hot summers coupled with short cool winters. The amount of rainfall received is high that makes the situation perfect for the production of world-class Assam tea.

The Frequency of Harvesting is Different for Both Teas

Tea is harvested twice in a year is Assam. The first flush is picked during the end of March or beginning of April. The next flush takes place during September. The second flush is alternatively termed as tippy tea due to the appearance of golden tips on leaves. The second flush also tastes sweeter than the first flush.

The second flush offers full-bodied flavor. That is why it is treated as superior harvest and sold at higher prices than the first flush. The color of tea leaves grown in Assam is dark green and glossy.

Darjeeling tea has four harvest seasons that are first flush, second flush, monsoon flush and autumn flush. Not all the areas in Darjeeling produce the desired harvestable growth. The first flush takes place between March and April. Buds can be found on stalks of tea bushes. Tea produced is floral, delicate with pale infusion. The second flush takes place between May and June where you can get a fruity flavor of the tea. The monsoon flush takes place during September after heavy rainfall and the tea when brewed produces deep color and strong taste. The autumn flush is harvested during October and November. Here, leaves grow large with deep color. The taste is strong added with fruity flavor.

Darjeeling tea is also demanded the most in the whole world. However, the quantity produces is low. The reason for this is that the climate is harsher and colder than Assam. Darjeeling tea promises much most of the time, but it fails to deliver. That is why it is wise to buy Assam tea online.
